RH2 The Journey Which badges to max in Season 5
HOF Quick Draw, Range Extender, and the finishing set that still contests.
Badges are why two Playmaking Shot Creators with the same 3PT feel nothing alike. Season 5 still pays out shooting, finishing, playmaking, and defense pies from the attributes you locked in the creator. HOF is expensive. Gold is the usual ceiling on a second category. Silver is what you accept on contact finishing so the jumper can live. This page ranks the core set players actually argue about, not every name in the 1300+ label pool.
Read it with the position builds and the tier list hub. A badge does not save a pie that skipped shooting. Time the actual jumper with the shooting guide — the video on this page is about jumpshot choice, not a magic HOF toggle. Takeovers such as Lone Ranger sit on the takeover ranks.
Shooting and playmaking cores
Quick Draw is the first shooting badge to chase to HOF on any guard or wing who greens for a living. Season 5 windows are still timing windows. A slow meter gets contested even if Range Extender is gold. If a community 99 OVR clip says HOF Quick Draw and gold Range Extender, that is the usual split when the pie cannot afford two HOFs.
Range Extender is the second shooting identity. Park 3s live on the logo and the corner. Rec 5s live on the slot. Without it, your “82 three” plays like a mid that wandered outside. Gold is acceptable on a Paint Beast who only spots in emergency; HOF belongs on 2-Way Sharpshooter and Playmaking Shot Creator.
Fearless Shooter is the third piece of the shooting core. It is why you still let it fly when a closeout is late rather than pumping into a steal. Pair it with Quick Draw so the extra confidence is not a late release.
Playmaking, in the order most S-tier PGs actually fund:
- Unpluckable — you cannot run Lone Ranger iso if every swipe is a live-ball turnover.
- Space Creator — stepbacks and hanging dribbles that make the 2-Way Sharpshooter open.
- Handle for Days — stamina on the ball; 86–90 stamina still dies if this badge is empty.
- Ankle Breaker — nice when it hits, not a reason to dump steal.
- Quick Chain — combo speed. Fund it if you actually dribble; skip it on a catch-and-shoot SG.
The tester Playmaking Shot Creator mix (shooting 26 / finishing 10 / playmaking 40 / defense 6) exists so playmaking can go deep while Quick Draw still reaches HOF. If your pie is inverted — 40 finishing, 6 playmaking — you built a slasher who will get stripped in Park. Practice the moves on the dribbling page after the points are spent, not before.
Finishing, defense, and post
Finishing badges that still show up on S-tier SGs and ISO SFs:
- Contact (often silver) — enough to finish through a bump, not enough to steal the shooting pie.
- Giant Slayer — guards and wings attacking a Paint Beast.
- Relentless — put-backs and second jumps when stamina is already taxed.
- Consistent Finisher — layup variance. Cheap insurance at silver on a 2-Way Sharpshooter with 80 dunk/layup.
Do not HOF all four. The kade-style SG template explicitly parks them at silver so HOF Range Extender and HOF Quick Draw can exist. That is the correct greed. A finishing HOF on a guard who cannot green is how you farm posters for the other team’s clip account.
Deep Fades is the post badge for PF and C. Paint Beast Rec centers should fund it if they get dumped the ball on the block. Park 3s centers who cannot shoot still should not skip a spot-up shooting badge in favor of a fade they will never have space to use.
Defense badges are where frames and takeovers leak into this page. Anchor can draw a drawback on block attempts — your block badge investment fights that tooltip. Steal-oriented PGs (the 77–85 steal templates) should fund on-ball steal badges before they fund a vanity block HOF they will never jump for. Stoppers chasing Matador still need perimeter numbers; a badge does not invent a 90 perimeter on a 45.
Free-throw related cheese from older patches is patched in Season 5. Do not plan a badge page around a glitch. Plan it around a jumper you can repeat in Plaza, then in Park and Rec. If a hotfix retunes Quick Draw, spend a Reset Token and rebuild the shooting pie before you touch finishing again.
Beginners: lock Quick Draw, Range Extender, and Fearless Shooter before you hunt Ankle Breaker clips. Role pages — guards and bigs — tell you which pie you should have had in the first place. The getting started guide is still the right first hour if you have not opened the creator yet.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for codes, builds, shooting, and Park play.
What shooting badges should every guard take?
Quick Draw, Range Extender, and Fearless Shooter. Push Quick Draw to HOF first, then Range Extender as high as the pie allows. Timing notes sit in the shooting guide.
Why are finishing badges only silver on the sharp SG?
So HOF Range Extender and HOF Quick Draw fit. Silver Contact, Giant Slayer, Relentless, and Consistent Finisher are enough for an 80 dunk/layup. See the build templates.
Is Deep Fades worth it on a Park center?
Only if you actually post. Rec Paint Beast: yes. Park 3s no-shoot center: spend on a spot-up shooting badge or rebuild toward the 3-level four.
Does HOF Quick Draw replace learning the jumper?
No. It shortens the window; it does not green a panic square. Use Plaza and the shooting guide before you queue.
How do I respec badges after a hotfix?
If the creator pie moved, spend a Reset Token and rebuild attributes first. Badges follow the new pie. Check Season 5 notes before you spend.
